Indian Wells, California ---- The Wedding, part two

Robyn Talking with Friends at the Mehindi Welcome Party

Roger here... This is the second installment of our daughter (Robyn) and her new husband (Atul's) four days of wedding celebration.

Friday afternoon --- Spa Day

Amanda, Robyn and the bridesmaids spent the afternoon at the resort's spa, having manicures, pedicures, and massages.

I made another trip to the Palm Springs Airport with my brother and his wife (Dick and Pam) to pick up their son (my nephew, Matt).  We then paid a visit to In and Out Burger for lunch.

While I was doing the airport run, Dianne and our granddaughter, Kaia, ate lunch together at the resort.

Before I returned, our dear friends, Jay and Nancy, arrived from Indiana.  Dianne's cousin, Charles, and his wife, Leslie arrived a little later.  Our eight-member Purdue contingent was complete --- Roger, Dianne, Dick, Pam, Jay, Nancy, Charles, Leslie.

Before the Mehindi Welcome Party,  Dianne and I sat on our patio enjoying a glass of wine with Jay, Nancy, Dick, Pam and Matt.

Friday Night --- Mehindi Welcome Party...

Friday evening Robyn and Atul greeted the wedding guests in an outdoor setting.  Hors d'oeuvres, Indian food and drinks were served while guests met new friends and renewed old friendships.

The ladies at the table, Atul's aunts, were escorted to California from India by Atul's father

I had not seen Charles and Leslie for a while.  It was good to catch up with them.  It was so cool that they traveled from Indiana to attend Robyn's wedding.

Dianne and I had a great time talking with Robyn's friends that we knew from her time in Chicago (Tony, Rachel, Kate, Scott, Abby, Tim, Joey, and others)

The Mehindi artist was at the party offering henna tattoos to all the ladies who had not already had one done.  My sister-in-law, Pam, and our friend Nancy were properly painted.   The picture below shows Nancy's hand after the paste fell off and the reddish tattoo remained.

The picture below shows a life-sized cardboard cutout of Atul and Robyn.  Guests had fun being photographed next to it.

As the evening closed I made sure to have my picture taken with Inesh.  Inesh is Atul's nephew, son of Mimi and Scott, brother of Simran.  Inesh is a freshman in high school.  He is one of the neatest kids I have ever met.

Saturday Morning (Wedding Day) --- Getting Ready

6:30 a.m.  Kaia and Dianne arrived at the bridal suite to have their hair and makeup professionally done.  (Dianne now thinks she needs to have this done for her every day :-).  Amanda was in the next group, with Robyn and the bridesmaids.

The results were very nice.

We all donned our colorful and elegant Indian garb for the ceremony.  Special thanks go to Atul and his family for assisting us with this.

Finally, comfortable clothes at a wedding.

Don't we look happy?

The Setting for the Hindu Ceremony

At this point, Atul's family and friends gathered at a separate area of the resort.  Robyn's friends and family waited at the site of the ceremony for the fun to begin.....

... And, begin it did, in a spectacular way!  Next post :-).

Pet Picture of the Day...  Bandido and Tequila were having their own spa treatments and nails done at their resort.
